"Image of the Month" Mike's Comments about "McCullough
Bridge"
"The
picture was taken in the evening after sunset and when
it was completely dark, except for the lights on and
around the bridge. It was shot at ISO 200 for 30
seconds, F6.3, 40mm, using Canon's 17 - 40 lens and a
30D camera, tripod mounted. The viewfinder was so dark that I
could only focus using the red lights on top of the
bridge. The shot was taken on the Oregon Coast, north
of Coos Bay in the city of North Bend."

Gene's
Comments about "Red S on the Rogue"
"This photo was taken during our all-day field
trip on October 10th to the Rogue River area from Prospect
north to Becky's. We hit the perfect weekend for fall
colors. And with colorful trees, there's always the
effort needed to not only get a good exposure but to
find a composition that holds together and is more
than just a bunch of bushes and trees. In searching
for this, I looked across the river and saw this S
shape in the branches. I virtually always use a
tripod, and I shot this at f/8 for best sharpness
since I didn't need significant depth of field. After
photographing it, I had to work it in Photoshop to
enhance the contrast for emphasis."

Yutte's Comments about "Anchors Away"
""Anchor’s Away"
is an image I took in a fishing harbor on vacation to
my homeland of Denmark. I like abstracts and I had
further fun with it in Photoshop by increasing the
color saturation. I think it works well on this type
of
an image as it gives it more impact and drama. It was
taken at ISO 100 and on Aperture priority f/11.0 with
a Canon 20D.."

Ozzie's Comments about "Order of Pastels"
"This image, one of a
“Beauty in Josephine Co series,” was taken along
Josephine
Creek
near the intersection of the
Illinois River
(GPS Coordinates:
N 42.2409; W 123.6852).
It was recorded on the first of this year at
2:30 in the afternoon.
It was a rather dark, calm and quiet
overcast day, but good for capturing saturated color
in an image. Struck
by the profusion of almost totally pastel colors in
this scene, I snapped the shot."
"Technical
“shot” data: Nikon
D90 w/18-200mm Nikkor zoom lens set at 18mm.
Image shot and captured in JPG format in
aperture priority. I
chose an aperture of f-16 with a shutter speed of 1/2
second. I
used an ISO of 180 for good clean detail and color
rendition. Proper
exposure required an exposure compensation of -0.7 for
this interestingly colored scene.
I used a white balance setting of Auto with a
-2 trim for capturing the beautiful pastel colors –
the subject of this rather chaotic, but attractively
colored scene."
